Lower daytime temperatures and more rainy weather were expected this week around metro Phoenix, according to a forecast by the National Weather Service office in Phoenix.

Phoenix residents can expect a cooling trend that will lead to below-normal temperatures for the remainder of the weekend and into next week, the weather service said.

"High temperatures for the next couple of days will only be into the mid-60s to lower 70s," said Mark O'Malley, meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Phoenix. "By Wednesday, we'll be looking at high temperatures in the Phoenix metro area, only reaching the lower 60s."
