A 24-year-old man died after his vehicle was struck twice by Union Pacific trains early on Nov. 16 in Casa Grande, according to police.

At about 3:10 a.m., railroad officials informed police that an eastbound and westbound train each hit a vehicle that was sitting on railroad tracks on Trekell Road, just south of Jimmie Kerr Boulevard, according to Officer Thomas Anderson, spokesperson for the Casa Grande Police Department.

The occupant of the vehicle, identified only as a 24-year-old man, was found dead at the scene, according to Anderson. Police had not identified the man's family or next of kin as of midday on Nov. 16. He was the only casualty of the crash, according to Anderson.

"It is unknown why the driver was parked on the track," Anderson said.
