A "habitual traffic offender" who showed little regard for the court has again been ordered off the road.

Thomas George Briggs, 45, appeared before Armidale Local Court on Monday, November 10, where he pleaded guilty to two counts of driving while disqualified and driving while under the influence of methamphetamine.

"You're too old for this and it's getting to the point where jail is the only available option," magistrate Jillian Kiely told Briggs in court.

According to police, Briggs is a "habitual traffic offender".

He was spotted by officers driving his black Holden Commodore along Erskine Street, Armidale about 1.40am on Monday, May 19.

"[Briggs] was pulled over by police and when the driver stopped, he ran to a nearby car park," police claimed in a statement tendered to court.
