GLEN LYON — Authorities say a homicide investigation is underway in Newport Township Sunday night.

At about 6 p.m., Luzerne County officials say crews were called to the 200 block of West Main Street for a reported police incident.

Luzerne County District Attorney Sam Sanguedolce confirmed with our newsgathering partners at 28/22 News that authorities launched a homicide investigation in the area.

Officials say Newport Township Police are leading the response to the incident, and authorities are detouring traffic in the area.
