CAMPBELL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – One student was taken to the hospital Friday afternoon after a school bus was struck by a vehicle in Campbell County. According to a release from the Alexandria Police Department, the crash happened around 2:30 p.m. on U.S. 27 near Spillman Drive.

The bus was carrying 12 students and one monitor. Police say the student taken to the hospital suffered minor injuries.

Investigators report that 42-year-old Donald Weinel hit the school bus as it was traveling south on U.S. 27. Police say Weinel appeared to be under the influence at the time of the crash.

Weinel was arrested and is being held at the Campbell County Detention Center on a $140,000 cash bond. He is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow. He faces multiple charges, including operating a moto
