HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - A man who was transported to the hospital in critical condition has died from his injuries following a shooting in Huntsville.

Just before 5 p.m. on Oct. 22, officers responded to the 4700 block of Mastin Lake Road for a reported shooting. Michael Nathanael Darden, 25, of Huntsville, was found with a gunshot wound. Despite lifesaving efforts by officers and HEMSI, Darden later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Shakeirra Desiree Hampton, 31, was detained at the scene. The investigation revealed that Darden and Hampton were involved in a domestic dispute during which she shot him.

Hampton has been arrested and booked into the Madison County Jail on a charge of murder.
