JACKSON, Mich. (WILX) -On Sunday, people gathered at the Jackson Reptile Expo to learn and see everything reptile-related.
The event took place at the American One Event Center and allowed people to buy or sell various items like cages, feeders, home supplies, and the reptiles themselves.
Jared Viitala, who organizes the event, said the expo serves an educational purpose for the community.
“I think a lot of it has to do with the educational factor,” said Viitala. “Especially with reptiles and amphibians, a lot of them are misunderstood. There are a lot of myths, a lot of misconceptions, And so it’s nice to kind of bring the community together and realize that they not only have a place in our lives personally, but they have a place in the environment at large and they fit into the whole
