WALKER, Minn. — A Cass County Sheriff's Office deputy was shot and another man was killed during an exchange of gunfire Sunday evening, according to a release from the sheriff's office.
The release states deputies were responding to a 911 call reporting a shooting in Walker, just before 5 p.m., when they made contact with a man walking in the road.
The man allegedly ran away from the deputies who chased him on foot.
According to the sheriff's office, "There was an exchange of gunfire," which resulted in a deputy being injured and the other man being killed.
The deputy was transported to a hospital and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the shooting.
