Opposition Leader Sussan Ley has been forced to listen to everyday voters who want her dumped from the Liberal leadership in an awkward live interview.

Fronting 2GB in Sydney on Monday morning, Ben Fordham played back a number of previous phone calls, surveying listeners on their preferred Liberal leader.

Nine callers said they would rather see Mr Hastie helm the Liberals than Sussan Ley, including John who said he backed Mr Hastie “100 per cent”, and Simone who said she wanted “definitely Andrew and never Sussan”.

Ms Ley, however, held her ground on air, saying the Liberals held a leadership ballot immediately after the election which she won.

She said people were “entitled to have their views”.

“I’m not here for a sense of ego about me, can I be really clear about that,” she said.
