HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Unsettled weather will be moving over the islands as we start the new work week, with a First Alert for locally heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms for parts of the state.
An upper level disturbance will draw a thick blanket of high clouds over the state while destabilizing the atmosphere. Rainfall will increase late Monday, with the highest chances for heavy rainfall late Tuesday afternoon or early evening into Wednesday, especially for the eastern end of the island chain.
With all that said, forecast confidence isn’t high enough yet for a flood watch to be issued, but if that happens, you’ll get the First Alert here. There’s also uncertainty over whether snow will be possible on Hawaii Island summits, but the potential is there.
