HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The sky above Waikiki will be aglow on Monday night with a fireworks show gifted from Sakai, a town in Japan.
The firework display will start at 7:30 p.m. in front of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel and will last for about 15 minutes.
It comes as several officials from Sakai, located near Tokyo, are in Hawaii this week to meet with state and city lawmakers to discuss educational enrichment with local schools and economic opportunities.
Sakai town officials said they want to give kamaaina a glimpse of their fireworks festival that attracts roughly 300,000 people every year.
