Students in an Ivy Tech Community College Fort Wayne art class have left their mark on a corner of the city.
Led by instructor Erin Salyers, the Art in the Community class brightened the exterior of Lake Avenue Market at Lake Avenue and Anthony Boulevard with a mural capturing the spirit of the neighborhood, the college said in a news release.
“We are thankful the building owner and tenants were on board and supportive of this learning experience for the students,” Salyers said in a statement. “More importantly, we hope it brings joy to everyone who visits this iconic market for years to come.”
The design – which includes roses as a nod to the Lakeside Park rose garden – was shaped by research of the neighborhood’s history and aspects that make residents proud. More than 80 people also
