GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Multiple prisoners at Perryville who experienced "seizure-like" symptoms on Sunday morning have been medically cleared. Authorities said initial information indicates that their symptoms were the result of illicit drug use.
Four incarcerated women at the Arizona State Prison Complex-Perryville's San Carlos Unit were taken off-site by local emergency medical personnel for medical evaluation and treatment after exhibiting "seizure-like" symptoms on Sunday morning.
The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry said initial information indicates the symptoms the women experienced were "the result of illicit drug use." All four women were medically cleared and taken back to Perryville.
Additional inmates were evaluated in the unit and, "when appropriate,
