BENGALURU: Police have arrested a racket selling fake ghee under the Karnataka Cooperative Milk Producers Federation (KMF) brand ‘Nandini’. The original Nandini ghee is produced in Tamil Nadu and sold in Bengaluru. It is one of the most popular brands in South India. Four members of the interstate racket responsible for counterfeit products have been arrested.
Suspicious sales led to the bust. Based on a tip-off, the Central Crime Branch Special Investigation Squad and the KMF Vigilance Wing conducted a joint investigation and caught the accused. The team found that Krishna Enterprise in Nanjamba Agrahara, Chamarajpet, Bengaluru, was producing the fake Nandini ghee. Investigators searched the company's godowns, shops and vehicles.
