If Mumbai's CNG supply is not restored within the next few hours, then the operations of almost all the autos and taxis will be hit and the city's roads could go empty without them by evening, the president of Mumbai Auto Rickshaw and Taxi Men Union warned on November 17.
Shashank Rao, the Union's President, told CNBC-TV18 that the compressed natural gas (CNG) disruption in Mumbai is affecting the auto rickshaws and taxis in the city with only those able to ply who have some reserves. This could worsen and affect the people's commute if the supply is not resumed at the earliest.
"If the situation doesn't improve in a couple of hours, almost all the autos and taxis will be off road by the evening," Rao said, adding that the evening peak hours could end up being "extremely chaotic" without
