The longest government shutdown in U.S. history has officially ended after President Donald Trump signed legislation passed by Congress on Nov. 12.

This legislation restores federal funding through Jan. 30, 2026 for most agencies and full-year appropriations for others, according to the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM)

Under the bill, federal employees affected by the shutdown , including furloughed employees and those who were required to work during the lapse, will be provided with retroactive pay, says the OPM.
