There’s no question that the criminal justice system in America is sweeping up many people struggling with mental health issues , substance use disorders, trauma or a lack of housing.

With that in mind, researchers from Brown and Michigan State universities embarked on a federally funded clinical trial to evaluate whether targeted interventions could prevent suicides in people recently released from prison.
