The City of Steinbach continues to work through plans for a major renewal of the outdoor pool.
Aquatic Centre Manager Jane Hanson gave a detailed report at the City's Strategic Priorities Committee meeting.
Mayor Earl Funk noted the outdoor facility gets a lot of use each summer because there are no natural water sources nearby.
“See, with not having a beach or a lake or a river, we have no outdoor water where people can be outdoors,” Funk said after the meeting. “So our outdoor pool is actually the place to go.”

Hanson reported that the outdoor facility sees more than 20,000 visits each summer, an average of about 275 swimmers per day. The heavy use has accelerated wear on the aging structure.
