Hometown pride is running high as Dominion City’s Denton Mateychuk gets ready for his first NHL appearance in Winnipeg.

Denton made his NHL debut with the Columbus Blue Jackets in December 2024 and has continued to stand out in his first full season with the team.

Family support

His brother, Maddux Mateychuk, says watching Denton reach the NHL has been a special experience for the whole family.

“I've been out to a couple games and obviously super proud of him. To see him playing at that level and against the best players that we grew up watching and dreaming of being, it's awesome. Definitely the whole family is very proud of him.”

Mateychuk says Denton has been chasing this dream since he was young.
