SHERIDAN — Though there were no passengers, Sheridan’s streetcar No. 115 made its final journey along Main Street on Nov. 6.

Wyoming’s last remaining streetcar was hoisted onto a flatbed trailer from its old resting place along Higby Road and hauled to Sheridan Community Land Trust’s property, located at 14 Lane Lane, after the North Main Association transferred ownership to the land trust.

Streetcar No. 115 was part of a larger fleet operated by the Sheridan Railway Company, beginning in 1910, which provided Sheridanites at the time with a robust public transit system. Routes connected to mining company towns north of the city and Fort Mackenzie, which now houses the Sheridan Veterans Affairs Health Care System campus.
