A dental expert is warning that mouth ulcers that don’t heal could be an early sign of something far more serious, as cases of oral and throat cancers continue to rise across the UK. Cold weather , low immunity and stress can make ulcers more common in winter, but any sore that lasts longer than two weeks should never be ignored, said Dr Andrej Bozic, oral surgeon at Dentum in Croatia, which treats hundreds of British patients every year.
“Most ulcers are harmless and clear within a week or two,” he explained. “But if one persists, bleeds, or keeps coming back in the same spot, it’s a red flag that shouldn’t be dismissed.”
