'I'm a doctor and patients should know which conditions blood tests don't find'

When feeling under the weather without knowing the cause, a blood test is typically the initial step towards identifying the issue. However, contrary to popular belief, these tests cannot detect every significant health condition, including the one that concerns most people - cancer.

Dr Leen Tannous, a London-based GP who frequently shares medical advice on her TikTok platform, recently posted a video dispelling common misconceptions about blood tests. She explained: "One of the biggest misconceptions I see as a GP is the belief that if something serious - especially cancer - was going on, it would automatically show up on a routine blood test.⁣ But that's not how blood
