CHICAGO, Illinois (KLTV) - 200 Texas National Guard Members who have been in Chicago awaiting deployment to assist ICE agents since early October are expected to return home in coming days amid a legal battle, according to two anonymous U.S. officials.

400 Texas National Guard members were originally authorized by Governor Greg Abbott on Oct. 5 to be deployed by President Trump to assist in Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations in major cities across the U.S., with 200 of those troops arriving in Chicago on Oct. 7.

On Oct. 11, a federal judge ruled that the troops could not be deployed in Chicago. That ruling still stands today. Those 200 troops have been in training camps outside of Chicago waiting further instruction. Now, they’re expected to return home while the legal battle
