OMAHA, Neb. —
Omaha residents could soon be fined for parking their vehicles on grass.
It is already illegal to park on any non-hard surface in the metro, but one City Councilman is trying to increase enforcement of the law by adding a $250 fine.
This is not the first time Ron Hug has brought the idea up. He introduced a similar ordinance that would fine anyone parked on grass $50. He is hopeful that if it passes, the fine will encourage the public to follow the law.
On a brief walk through South Omaha, it quickly becomes clear that some cars are not parked where they are supposed to be.
