Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rain across the state from Monday. A yellow alert has been declared in several districts for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The department has noted that heavy rain may occur in isolated areas.

The yellow alert for November 17 covers Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam.

For November 18, the alert includes Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki and Malappuram.

On November 19, the alert remains in place for Kottayam and Idukki. Heavy rain refers to rainfall measuring 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm within 24 hours.

The authorities have also issued a warning for thunderstorms that may bring light to moderate rain along with gusty winds reaching 40 km
