Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase is likely to face a one-game suspension for spitting on Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Jalen Ramsey during Sunday’s game, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The NFL established the one-game precedent for a spitting incident earlier this season when Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter spit on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott before the first offensive snap of the 2025 Kickoff Game on Sept. 4. Carter was ejected from the game before playing one snap.
Video replays showed Chase spitting on Ramsey although he later denied it to reporters.
“[The Carter incident] set a baseline right there saying that if you spit on somebody, which is a demeaning, disgraceful act, then you’re going to be suspended for one game,” Schefter said Monday on “Get Up.”
