CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Dozens of people were arrested by federal agents during the first weekend of Border Patrol’s “Charlotte’s Web” operation in North Carolina, according to a top-ranking official.
Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino said that on Saturday, Nov. 15 -- the first day that arrests were seen -- 81 people were arrested in the Charlotte area.
Bovino said on social media that of those 81 people arrested, “many” had “significant criminal and immigration [histories].” Those arrests, he claimed, happen within about a five-hour timeframe.
The commander said in a separate social media comment that Saturday was a “record day,” but did not elaborate further.
“Massive numbers in Charlotte,” Bovino wrote. “Some good criminals also.”
