FAYETTE COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) - A woman was seriously injured in a single-vehicle accident Saturday morning.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office arrived around 11:36 a.m. to T Avenue, about one mile south of Westgate,

Two people were driving in a side-by-side Can Am when the wind blew open the passenger door.

The passenger, 41-year-old Cara Conroy from Hudson, grabbed the door to close it and was thrown from the UTV.

Iowa State Patrol says the woman was not wearing a seat belt and is facing life-threatening injuries. She was taken to Marcy One Hospital in Oelwein before being airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospital.
