ROMULUS, MI - The number of cancellations and delays at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport has plummeted as restrictions from airspace authorities lift.

There were just two flights canceled and 20 delayed at DTW on Monday, Nov. 17, according to data from FlightAware.

Those numbers are down from the dozens of flights at the Romulus airport canceled in recent weeks as the Federal Aviation Administration ordered 40 airports to reduce flights. The order followed an increasing number of air traffic controllers - who were not paid during a record-breaking 43-day government shutdown - opting not to work, according to the Associated Press .
