Guwahati: In a significant step, a new mobile app called SMART AXOM is set to be launched to help people stay safe during emergencies. The app will give real-time alerts and simple safety information during floods, storms, landslides and other natural disasters that the state often faces.

Officials said the app will help people receive quick warnings directly on their phones. SMART AXOM will share weather updates, important notices from disaster management teams and step-by-step safety tips. People can also find information about nearby shelters and emergency helpline numbers in the app.
