One of West Michigan’s two Division-III college football teams is heading to the playoffs, while the other will have to settle for its best season in program history.
Hope College capped its regular season with a 63-6 win over Olivet on Saturday, securing the program’s second consecutive playoff berth and seventh overall. It’s the first time the Flying Dutchmen have reached the playoffs in back-to-back seasons.
Calvin University came up short of the 40-team tournament field, but the Knights ended the program’s second football season with a 7-3 record following a 53-24 win over Albion. It’s the first winning season in program history, after the Knights went 2-8 in their inaugural campaign last year.
No. 15 Hope (9-1) received a first-round bye and will host 17th-ranked Wisconsin-La Cross
