A trio of pets has been safely evacuated from a home on the south side.

Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services says, at approximately 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, crews from three stations were called to a fire on the 1200 block of 5 Avenue South.

The fire was quickly extinguished before it could spread beyond the room of origin.

Officials say their rapid response significantly reduced damage and prevented it from causing further damage.

No humans were home at the time, but three cats were taken outside to safety.

Damages are estimated at $200,000.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
