A network of clinics dedicated to the prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted infections could soon have to close up shop in Montreal and across the province — another casualty of Bill 2.
Dr. Maxim Regimbal-Ethier said the Quebec government’s special law, adopted last month to force a new compensation model on physicians, will make it “impossible” to continue operating the eight Prelib clinics after Jan. 1, the date the new remuneration comes into effect.
The clinics, the first of which opened in 2018, offer a unique model of discreet STI testing and followup. Ethier said they will be triply affected by the new law.
