The Election Commission on Monday ordered a special revision of electoral rolls in Assam in which Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will carry out a house-to-house verification, as opposed to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) ongoing in other states where all registered electors are required to submit enumeration forms to remain on the rolls.

The EC wrote to the Assam Chief Electoral Officer on Monday, ordering the special revision of electoral rolls with the qualifying date of January 1, 2026, which means anyone who is 18 years of age by that date can be enrolled. As per the schedule, the BLOs will carry out house-to-house verification from November 22 to December 20; the draft electoral roll would be published on December 27; claims and objections can be filed from December 27 to January 2
