A helicopter flies in and out of the central west every day to take seriously sick children to appointments, like organ transplants, and cancer treatments.
When he was about eight years old, Louis Nixon Lear found out he had a condition that would see him flown across the state in a helicopter multiple times a year for treatment.
The eye condition, which requires specialised care outside of his hometown of Orange, was discovered in a routine check up at school.
Louis's mother, Carmen Nixon, a Kamilaroi woman who has three children , told the CWD she was "terrified" for her son.
Louis, now aged 11 and a keen hockey player, is not a fan of school because, as his mum says, he gets bullied for his "differences".
Ms Nixon said with the services here, Louis's eye pressure can be monitor
