Nearly $200 million in federal government contracts were awarded to a single supplier under the new Digital Marketplace Panel 2.
A Canberra Times analysis of Austender reveals more than 15 per cent of all contracts under the panel had a single supplier invitation, despite the panel opening just a year ago targeting more "competitive" and "cost-effective" procurement.
The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing accounted for about 18 per cent of those contracts, the most frequent user of single supplier invitations, followed by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations and the Bureau of Meteorology.
Combined, the single supplier contracts belonging to these three departments were worth more than $100 million.
