A former director for a company that manages Boston Public Schools’ fleet of school buses was arrested and charged Friday with accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes and kickbacks from vendors who worked on the buses, federal prosecutors said.

Michael Muller, 59, of Millbury, and one of the vendors, John Colantuoni, 60, of Westwood, were charged in a 21-count indictment, US Attorney Leah B. Foley’s office said.

The alleged bribes included cash, checks, a used pickup truck worth $15,000, and $85,000 in building materials for Muller’s vacation house, prosecutors said. Muller also allegedly required that one vendor hire his adult son, officials said.
