A Strathmore man was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison for crimes against children, the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement on Monday.
Derli Ramirez, 26, pleaded no contest to charges in two separate cases.
In one case, Ramirez was stopped by California Highway Patrol officers on Dec. 25, 2020, for erratic driving on northbound Highway 65 while transporting three juveniles, including a nine-year-old and an eight-month-old infant who was not properly secured.
Ramirez later pleaded no contest to three counts of felony child abuse, one count of misdemeanor DUI, and one count of driving without a valid license, prosecutors said.
While awaiting sentencing on that case, Ramirez committed sexual assault against an 11-year-old girl on April 1, 2023. He later pleade
