NORFOLK, Va. — Air travel is picking back up after the Federal Aviation Administration announced it is ending the flight reductions implemented during the government shutdown .
More than 40 major airports across the country saw delays and cancellations over the past few weeks as air traffic controller staffing hit critical lows. Now, those restrictions are gone, and travelers at Norfolk International Airport (ORF) say they’re relieved to hear it.
Traveler Tony Dice said his recent trip turned stressful fast. Dice told 13News Now he faced a cancelled flight and ended up driving to North Carolina. He added that his next attempt included a six-hour delay that left him anxious about making it to his destination.
