Summerville police say they are investigating the death of person who was found near the parking lot of a recreation area over the weekend.

Captain Caine Railey says the person was found unresponsive near the parking area of the ballfields at Fairway Recreation Center on Saturday, November 15.

Captain Railey says the death is being investigated as an apparent suicide and that there is no threat to the public.

The person’s name has not been released.

Police say no more information will be released at this time out of respect for the family.
