MASON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Two men are accused of pointing a laser at a Kentucky State Police aircraft during a search operation for a missing 11-year-old in Robertson County.
KSP said the incident happened on Nov. 3 while the aircraft support branch was helping in the search for the missing child. The pilot and tactical flight officer said they were repeatedly struck by a laser beam directed at the aircraft.
The tactical flight officer suffered a possible eye injury from the laser strikes.
KSP said the two suspects also fired gunshots at the aircraft during the incident.
Jason McKee, 49, of Mayslick, and Donald Boone, 44, of Ohio, were each charged with wanton endangerment.
The case has also been sent to the FBI for possible additional charges.
