WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office identified a man who died from his injuries after being hit by a car early Sunday morning near K-15 and MacArthur Road as 33-year-old Nicolas Wade Garcia, of Newton.

The sheriff’s office reported that at about 12:33 a.m., a deputy saw a collision on southbound K-15 in which a vehicle hit a pedestrian.

Sedgwick County EMS and Sedgwick County Fire District 1 responded to the scene while the deputy was performing life-saving measures. The victim, later identified as Garcia, was transported to a Wichita hospital where he died.

A preliminary investigation by the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office shows that a 22-year-old woman from Wichita was driving south on K-15 when she struck the man who was in the road. He was not in a crosswalk
