A college football team lost in overtime and a resignation soon followed.

That resignation is of a Texas man who allegedly sent University of Louisville football coach Jeff Brohm threatening text messages following a Nov. 8 loss to Cal.

A Jefferson County grand jury indicted Brian Mandel on Nov. 10 on seven charges , six of them terroristic threatening, after police said he threatened UofL football coach Jeff Brohm.

Mandel, of Corpus Christi, served as the vice chair of the Corpus Christi Planning Commission, a position he held since 2020.

Mandel resigned from his position, chair Cynthia Garza confirmed Nov. 17 to the Corpus Christi Caller Times , part of the USA TODAY Network and a sister paper to The Courier Journal.
