CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Chesapeake police have captured a suspect in a Monday afternoon shooting that left a man injured.

The shooting happened around 12:40 p.m. in the 2300 block of Swinson Landing, according to the Chesapeake Police Department. The incident reportedly started with a domestic dispute.

Officers found a man suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The suspect fled the area in a vehicle, police said. He was later captured, and charges are pending.

Two nearby schools took precautions after the shooting at the request of law enforcement, Chesapeake Public Schools said.

Hugo Owens Middle School and Deep Creek Central Elementary School moved all students and staff inside starting at about 12:50 p.m., said a school spokesman. A
