OAKMAN, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Cory Franks, the former mayor of Oakman in Walker County, has been indicted on two charges of using his official position for personal gain.

According to the indictment unsealed Monday, Franks is accused of using his position as the mayor of Oakman to allow his daughter to use a 2021 BMW 528i owned by the town, without a lawful purpose.

The indictment also accuses Franks of getting all or part of a $1748.59 check drawn from the town’s account, without a lawful purpose.

Franks lost a bid for reelection in August to Bill Hyde, who was sworn in in early November.
