TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ( WBRC ) - WBRC is On Your Side with more details about a major road project that will directly impact around 15,000 people in the Alberta community of Tuscaloosa.
The city of Tuscaloosa has approved a $27 million road project on University Boulevard East.
Construction will begin Jan. 6, 2026 and run for 10 months along a mile-long stretch from Arcadia Drive down University Boulevard East.
“This project really started about 10 years ago,” said Tuscaloosa City Council President Kip Tyner.
Tyner said the project faced delays due to COVID-19 and other factors, but the extended timeline resulted in additional funding.
The $27 million budget will fund sidewalks on both sides of the road, with 10-foot sidewalks on one side and 6-foot sidewalks on the other. All utilities
