BOSTON — Retail energy suppliers would be banned from marketing to low-income residential consumers under a climate change bill being considered by lawmakers, which has revived a fight on Beacon Hill over regulating the competitive market.
The state House of Representatives is considering a proposal that calls for dialing back some of Massachusetts’ climate change goals – including its greenhouse gas emission reduction mandates – in response to skyrocketing energy costs and dwindling support for green energy initiatives from the federal government.
