Varner Road in Cathedral City has reopened following a mudslide that trapped around 30 vehicles the afternoon of Saturday, Nov. 15.
Cathedral City announced the road had reopened Sunday evening, following a closure of more than 24 hours.
"Thanks to rapid response and coordinated work throughout the day, Varner Road at Date Palm Drive has now been fully reopened to traffic," the city said in a press release. "Crews cleared mud, debris, and sediment deposited during the incident, ensuring the roadway is safe for motorists. Drivers are encouraged to remain alert in the area as normal traffic flow resumes."
