Workers erupted in cheers and began clapping when the preferred buyer for troubled disability employment provider Bedford was announced on Monday, saving hundreds of jobs.

For 35-year-old Toby Sutherland, who has worked for Bedford for 12 years, the announcement provided relief after months of uncertainty.

"I loved it," he said.

"Just seeing everyone just cheer and … put their arms up in the air was amazing because the last few months have been so anxious not knowing whether or not we had a future here.

"We had people who were getting quite anxious every single week and every single day, so it's great to have a lot of clarity right now around our future."
