City council has approved a contract for work on the south portion of Hollinger Park.

Officially known as Fred Salvador Athletic Field, it has become more of an events space in recent years.

City clerk Steph Palmateer presented the report, which ultimately awarded a contract for the removal of existing material, and the supply and installation of new materials and topsoil to John Delost Construction in the amount of $266,730 plus HST.

He described roughly what the process of work would be.

“Prepare the area, remove existing material, have the site graded and sloped for proper drainage, add new topsoil, and hydroseed to create a safe durable and visually appealing green space suitable for frequent public use,” said Palmateer.
